jewelry trees

Monday, March 28, 2011

oversized frame bought at a thrift store for around $3 it didn't have the glass. i sprayed it white and we cut a piece of ply wood to fit the frame covered it with some leftover burlap material hammered some nails and done.

my purpose in organizing my jewelry was to be able to see it.
if i don't see it then i forget about it and if i forget about it i don't wear it.
being able to see it is crucial to keep my jewelry buying tendencies at bay.
i took some old twigs from outside, well actually a few of them were branches from our Christmas tree. we cut it up to burn it in the fire pit. i sprayed them with a light coat of white spray paint and shoved them in a vase.
to keep the branches from tipping one vase is anchored with souvenir beach rocks and one has long grain white rice.
i just used what i had lying around the house.

my dangly earrings are hanging on screen door mesh stapled to the back of a sprayed wooden frame.
the hooks are from Hobby Lobby and the cords are just twine i bradded and nailed to the frame.

if your wanting to organize your jewelry i hope this gave you some ideas.
i love being able to see everything all layed out pretty like a lil boutique.

  6. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the little trees you created! So chic and Anthropologie like! Your earrings and hook system are similar to my jewelry storage system, I'm certain we might have been separated at jewelry display birth :)

Here is a link I did when I posted about my jewelry! Total twinsies we are (minus the fact that I don't yet have your fabulous trees! YET being the key word!)

  11. Karlee, yeah his head does twist off! I believe he's an old Avon perfume or powder jar. He was a sweet find from my grandmothers old things. I just love owls ;)

    Andy you MUST recreate!

Allison, I was indeed inspired by an Anthropologie display I'd seen a few years ago. Don't you just LOVE that place? It always feels like home when i step into that store.
haha you're too funny, perhaps we were separated at jewelry displaying birth ;)

Selina, you're too sweet. Thanks ;)

  17. You read my MIND with this post. I've been trying to come up with a way to have my jewelry out so I can take inventory and don't have to dig around to find what I'm looking for. I wanted to do something with a frame, but I haven't yet. This is great inspiration!! Thanks! :)

  19. Literally 48 hours ago I was in the midst of a huge cleaning spree and called my mom saying "I've done a pretty good job getting all my clothes and stuff organized, but I don't know what to do with my jewelry... mostly necklaces and earrings, and right now it's all just sitting out".

This is outstanding! Definitely a project for this weekend - thanks so much!
